It would be SO much faster to type in positions and sizes for IB objects, for complex or tight layouts. I've just been working with skinman, and this approach makes it so very much faster to get accurate positions for objects.
Either relative to parent or absolute, either way (or both).
And either [L,R,Top, Bottom] or [UL corner, width and height] would be fine.

I don't know how to implement it in the graphic engine but I'll think about it.

In the meantime, I decided to put all my objects directly in the IB, bypassing all containers, and I set grid size to 8. It's a lot of work, but layout is much simpler, and I can get objects edge to edge without drifting.
