I am thinking that if a preset manager could have the option to have its content (presets) stored as part of a master preset manager/conductort this could really open up performance options.
In this way, the master preset would be responsible for recalling all of a songs parameters, including the full contents of any sub preset managers with the option enabled. The sub preset managers could then be used to recall variations of specific parts within that song. (ie:midi sequences, vst presets and whichever appropriate parameters)
I realize this can already be done to a certain extent, except that there is a severe limitation on the number of sub variations that can be recalled without a crapload of preset managers if working with dozens of songs from within a single workspace.
Also, working with only one global 8x preset manager per sub patch would really simplify setup, preset management and remote control.
Store preset manager contents in preset manager
interesting, but in my mind the master section must be totally independent of the workspace.
maybe we should think about a way to improve the preset manager concept without affect the maser section.

Hmm..I'm not entirely sure we're talking about the same thing. I am refering to a hierarchal sytem where a preset manager a patch higher than another preset manager could have the option of saving and recalling all of the presets contained in the lower patchs preset manager as a part of its own presets. This way when the top preset manager recalled a preset, the lower preset manager would have an entire new set of presets to recall that would contol everything in that sub patch. In this way, almost everything would work as it still does except there would be an enhanced sub layer of independant control.
I envision a right click on the 'sub preset manager' to select 'Stored in Top Preset' or what have you to activate the feature...
But then again, I am still learning Usine and don't really know anything so maybe what I am talking about is difficult?

Bump!
Usine is perfect now with 4.2....except making presets with the preset manager that can recall the state of another preset manager contained within a sub patch is all that's missing for me now .
My reason for wanting this is that I am setting up my global workspace with 128 presets, one for each main song. Within the context of each of the 128 songs, I would also like to be able to remotely recall several variations within several specific sub patches without having to have another 128 preset managers for each sub patch (kind of a ridiculous idea to have that many preset managers anyways)
No pressure...
