One thing I'm starting to miss.
I wish that vertical vs. horizontal (or fader vs. knob) were parameters of a common control object, rather than different objects. As it stands (correct me if I'm wrong) it seems like if I want to change a control from a knob to a slider (to better accommodate a change in the layout) or a vertical to a horizontal fader, I will have to delete the control and add a new one. This means I will have to restore the values of that control for every existing preset by hand.
Is that correct?
Is there a workaround?
something to think about, I guess. it would be nice to be able to change the layout without breaking all the presets.

There's a partial workaround which at least saves you from redoing the connections: Select the module you want to change, and double-click in the browser on the object you replace it with while holding down [Alt]. (I think it's somewhere in the manual...)
I think this applies to every type of object, even when the in-/outputs aren't compatible. In those cases you obviously have to clean up the connections afterwards.
Since we're on the subject, I wouldn't mind that the knob was included as well; ie an object with (at least) three different looks: horizontal and vertical faders + knob.

Yes I know.
The evolution of Usine is too fast for me. The actual behavior comes from early versions of Usine.
It's my goal now, make the ensemble more homogeneous and take advantage of the new layout capabilities.
Hard job, especially to keep the backward compatibility of patches...

select the module you want to replace, and drag and drop the new module onto it while holding down [ALT]+[SHIFT]. a little awkward but it stops you accidentally replacing stuff, and in practice is ok... i'm not certain you actually need to drop the new module onto the old one as i think it'll replace it even if you drop it onto the patcher whilst holding [ALT]+[SHIFT] if you have the old one selected, but i generally drop it onto it anyway.bsork wrote:There's a partial workaround which at least saves you from redoing the connections: Select the module you want to change, and double-click in the browser on the object you replace it with while holding down [Alt].
